Green Fluevogs

Tues, Mar 23
I just wore jeans and T-shirts to work for a week since my students had a research day, and then I had student conferences instead of holding class. I don't like to dress up for that, so no pictures. I only show work outfits on here since that's what I have trouble with.

Wed, Mar 31
My first time wearing these shoes! They are satin which makes me think they are super duper fancy, so I haven't worn them yet. Erin convinced me they weren't too fancy for school, so I'm wearing them today. I love them!!!

Spring is Here (Kind Of)

Except I'm wearing tights and a jacket because it's COLD here.

Jon burned the last of the wood we chopped from our summer bush-whacking because he's convinced this is our last cold spell before the hot weather hits. I wish I were that confident. I plan out my outfits for the entire semester at the beginning of the term, and I've run out of winter outfits! It's short sleeves and bare legs from here on out, and this cold is absolutely unacceptable!

Mondrian

I like this outfit. I wasn't sure I would, but I do. I got several comments about how patriotic I looked, but really it was more inspired by Piet Mondrian than by any sense of patriotism. I wish I had chosen my yellow purse or at least little yellow earrings to put in the little burst of yellow. I tried it with my black pumps, but it looked too severe, so I went with pewter.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I actually altered my outfit schedule so I would be sure to wear green today. I opted not to wear the scarf. I think it looks matronly. I like scarves a lot, but I need to learn how to be more creative with them.

Remember when you were a kid and you got pinched if you didn't wear green on Mar 17? I liked that. I have distinct memories of Christopher Finley in the 1st grade pinching me, and it HURT! But I think in that weird kid way it also meant he liked me. To this day I think of Christopher Finley as the standard for hard pinches. As an adult, you can't just go around pinching people, and that's OK with me, but it does take some of the fun out of St. Patrick's Day.

Lavender

I know I said I was done with belts, but this is one of the few that I really like. I'm having trouble putting it together in outfits, though. I like this one! I'm especially proud of it, because I tend to copy outfits I see on other people's blogs or whatever, and I made this one ALL BY MYSELF! And I like it! Quite an accomplishment for me.

Red Shoes

I wore this at a dinner party the other night then to school today with a different cardigan. This is a strapless dress, and you can bet I safety pinned that sucker to that cardigan. No more embarrassing incidents for me! I learned my lesson.

Niagara Falls

It's our 10th wedding anniversary this week, so we decided to kitsch it up as much as possible and go to Niagara Falls. It was really fun! We flew into Buffalo, NY and took a cab over the border to Canada. We stayed at the Marriott Fallsview and here was the view from our room!

You could even hear the Falls if you were standing right next to the window. We got in kind of late, so we didn't do anything the first day except go out to dinner and watch TV in our room. So relaxing and fun!

The next day we lounged around for quite a while, then walked around town a bit. We went to see the IMAX show about the history of Niagara Falls which I thought would be super cheesy. It was, I guess, but it was also good enough that we brought it up constantly for the rest of our trip. It was mostly about the people who've tried to go over the falls in barrels and other contraptions, aka Crazy People.

On Monday, we took a city tour which was good. We went up the big observation tower (of course!). Our driver took us down the river to where the huge rapids and giant whirlpool are, though they're not that scary right now since most of the river is frozen. Apparently in the summer, it's incredibly dangerous.

It was a great trip and a fun way to celebrate our anniversary!
