Success!

My eye surgery is a success so far! I woke up this morning, and for the first time in 25 years, I could SEE. Pretty amazing. The surgery wasn't bad at all - well, not as bad as I was expecting it to be, anyway. Jonathan even got to watch it (which I didn't want him to do, but he did anyway). I was most nervous about the "Clockwork Orange" eyelid stretchers they have to put on your eye, and I will say they were the worst part. So, if you can handle that, then you can handle LASIK.

I could see better immediately after the surgery, but everything looked weird and hazy like the room was full of smoke. I pretty much just kept my eyes closed as much as possible because, really, they hurt kind of badly. It took practically all of my willpower not to rub them. The doctor had given me some extra Valium, though, so when I got home, I took one and went to sleep. After a few hours, it just felt like I had an old, dry pair of scratchy contacts in, and I could see well enough to watch a little TV.

This morning, my right eye is pretty much at 100%. The left eye is still blurry, but I think it will improve as it continues to heal. I have a follow-up appointment today, so we'll see what the doctor says. The amazing part is that I can drive myself to the appointment. Seriously - it's that much better. I have to get my driver's license status changed!

It's pretty fantastic. I feel a little like a biblical character. It wasn't quite Zap! You're healed! But it's pretty close.

That's so exciting! I've always wanted to get LASIK but the thought has always made me nervous. It's nice to hear success stories! I hope everything keeps going well. :)

I am so excited for you. I am too chicken to ever do it- but think its great. I am 20/30-20/40 and at my last drivers license review I told them I didnt wear glasses.I took the test and missed a few and they said "watch those eyes". They didn't seem concerned at all. My vision is just barely off but still doesnt give me much faith in the system. So laugh at that when you get your license changed

It really works??!! SO, you can now get up out of bed without blindly searching for your glasses before you do anything else?! Wow!
